SEEDS partners met in Belgrade October 13-15 for a first planned workshop. Over the two and a half days, 18 attendees from 8 institutions participated in discussions held at the Institute of Economic Sciences, joined as well by Ms. Hilary Beedham, Associate Director of the United Kingdom Data Archive, and member of the SEEDS advisory board. Topics included the Open Archival Information System (OAIS), data ingest, storage, preservation, and access. On the second day presentations were given by partners from Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Montenegro on the initial work of mapping the legal, research, and infrastructural landscapes in their countries. Hands-on group meetings helped prepare partners for the next steps of the SEEDS project, including the development of establishment plans and policy documents. Partners are looking forward to the next workshop in February 2016 in Ljubljana!
